I agree completely that facilitation is pretty much a requirement, Richard. I personally have never been involved in a mastermind where it's simply a free for all. I believe structure and purpose is part of the mastermind concept and keeps it from becoming a social occasion.

However, I also believe that a mastermind need not be dependent on one facilitator only. Anyone in the group should be able to step into that role if needed and sometimes even adds a fresh perspective when they do. A true mastermind invites the equal participation of everyone bringing something to the group in both leadership and experiences to enrich the group as a whole and bring the "third mind" into play.

I've seen people call a group a "mastermind" when it's more like group coaching...and there is a difference in both purpose and participation between the two.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting. I always appreciate your input, Richard!

If needed, any member of the group could facilitate, you said. It seems to me that any meeting would need facilitation, although it may depend on the people in the group and how they came together in the first place. If some or many of the members are strangers to each other, I would think facilitation would be pretty much a given requirement (either shared or otherwise). If everyone knows each other, well then, how does one keep the group from simply being a social occasion?

In any case, appreciate the many useful tips here.

How blessed they are to have a daughter willing to care for them. My sister is doing the same for our mom, an uncle, and her husband’s, mom and I know how difficult it is. but attitude is everything in making it something you can also find joy in doing.

Your site looks like you have a lot of fun with your art! And gardening and cooking are my two favorite hobbies, too! Thanks for dropping by!

Attitude is such a powerful thing, I take care of my elderly parents and although I love them deeply, it is very taxing and difficult at times. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed, so much to do, and on top of everything, am trying to develop my art business, I have to continually remind myself they gave so much to me and now it is my time to give. God bless parents.

Missing your flight wasn't so awesome, but your gratefulness is, Didi! I know how excited you were to be returning to the US, but a little delay won't change that one bit. I hope it gave you the opportunity to meet someone, share something, or just have a new awareness of yourself, as you mentioned.

I look forward to having you in my time zone once more;-) Call me when you get settled.

Life just happened to me today, when I arrived just a few minutes after checking time was up... and I missed my flight! :) I am grateful for it, because I witnessed how much I've grown in the way I responded to an event like this, that can certainly be perceived as very disturbing. I was calm, collected and knew there was a solution, and that there must be a reason why I couldn't make it on time. :) Although the chocolate my sister handed me might have helped too ;)

I'm grateful for my ability to think my own thoughts even if it is a road less traveled.
My parents and family are a limitless support and inspiration. As always my boyfriend has loved me in ways I never knew exsisted. On a simplistic note, I'm thankful that I have suitable food, shelter, and clothing. Last and most importantly, my belief in a higher power leads me to be humble to the idea that I truly can think any situation and desire into exsistance;therefore, I shall always be free to live my life by grand design. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks, Jonathan! What a great analogy to mind mapping. Alignment and congruence are really good words to use for assessment, too. When actions don't line up with our vision, it's time to make some changes..sometimes in both our vision and our habits.

Thanks for stopping by, too! We should try to connect while I'm in PDX!

Great article Leta! That chatter is like the mind map that doesn't get used. You see it and realize it's not in alignment with your main goals so redo a mindmap that is more congruent to your higher vision!
