Time for Clarity
I love this time of the year! It’s the perfect time to look back and evaluate what worked…or didn’t in 2013. It’s a time to be in the present celebrating the holiday season of festivities, spiritual reflection, relationships and giving beyond self in many variations. It’s also the time to consider planning what you want to accomplish in the New Year. The one question I ask myself and my clients at this time of the year is, “How can you achieve more clarity in your business so that you can make more money in the coming year”?
One of the reasons I love to mind map is the clarity it brings to planning in both my business and personal life. I do a personal and business planning map in December every year, so I can be in action when the New Year starts. I also offer mapping strategy sessions to those who want to have more clarity about their business goals and activities.
Clarity Attracts Money
You may have heard the comment “Clarity attracts money”. If you want a business that is sustainable and profitable you must first have clarity about…
- your personal mission and vision (what do you see as your God given purpose?)
- your business mission and vision (does it align with and serve your personal mission?)
- your revenue strategies
- the tactics and systems to support your revenue strategies
- your niche (specialize in one area of your broader market to attract your perfect client)
- the big idea that frames your message and brand
- who you serve (identify your perfect client)
- what products and services best meet your ideal client’s wants and needs
- a plan to bring these products and services to your audience consistently and with continuity
- the marketing message that attracts that perfect audience to what you offer
Then, you will reach the people who want what you offer, make a bigger impact, and make more money.
I am passionate about educating and equipping entrepreneurs and small business owners with strategies that will successfully deliver their missions and messages out into the marketplace. Recently, I felt the need to take a BIG step back and re-evaluate my vision to see if I could up-level my audience, my impact, and my earnings. I spent much of the past 6 months re-evaluating, clarifying and executing changes that will expand my vision, my reach, and open doors to new revenue streams in 2014 and beyond. What triggered that change?
In April, 2013, I attended INSIDE EDGE and made a decision to “Dream Big” and expand into executive coaching. I hired Angelique Rewers, a corporate mentor and coach and put myself on a 1 year plan to do it. It was a time and financial investment that would stretch my boundaries. I’d already taken a significant amount of focus away from my primary business to participate in a collaborative project with two other colleagues that produced two additional products. It was not an easy decision to go in a new direction. In fact, shortly after I started, I was diagnosed with an ovarian tumor and had to have surgery. I’m aware that these barriers often pop up when radical shifts begin to happen, but so do opportunities to break through those barriers. As my surgery date approached, I had an invitation, and agreed, to participate in two book projects as a co-author. The first one, Living without Limitations – 30 Mentors to Rock Your World! was just what I needed to personally press through the circumstances and keep going with defining and designing my plan with clarity. Since then, many steps have been taken to implement the plan so I can “Launch Bold” into January, 2014.
As the New Year approaches, I’d like to ask all of you who are small business owners, solo- entrepreneurs and business professionals – how can you achieve more clarity in your business so that you can have more influence, make a bigger impact, and make more money in 2014? Where do you need to breakthrough limitations and create change? Do you find yourself resisting that shift? Do you find ideas and skills are lacking in any of these areas (e.g., what products to create, how to position your services, ways to have more authority and stand out in the crowded marketplace)? Do you need help in implementing those changes?
Once you get clarity about those areas, Mind Map your Annual Business Strategies. Then, create a 90 day action plan to Launch Bold into the New Year by executing those strategies and achieving fast results. I’d love to hear what shifts might be happening in your life and business and the results you achieve as a result.
