What is challenge to you?
Is it something that grinds you down, or something that empowers you to success? Have you ever seen challenge as a joy? Do you actual create challenges for yourself and embrace them? Or do you do all you can to avoid them? Did you know you have a choice?
I love a challenge, and often find myself issuing my own as a way to exercise my mental muscles. That means challenges can be made up to serve a particular purpose. Often people issue challenges as a way to get people to take action. And people do…especially when there is a reward for stepping up and taking it on. Others, like me, create a challenge as a way to get myself to take action…
I just launched my first product, a packaged series of webinars called “Mind Mapping Your Way from Passion to Prosperity” that I did during my business launch a few months back. I had intended to sell them right away, but I’ve been really busy since coaching clients, creating other products, and even doing some training to speak, and those webinars were just sitting there waiting to be edited and packaged for promotion. So, about 10 days ago, while considering what to do to celebrate my big 60th birthday, I got the idea that I would offer the recorded webinars as a birthday special to my list.
I can’t even begin to tell you what a challenge that was. It meant spending hours in front of the computer editing out all the fluff, all the secondary offers that weren’t relevant, making sure the sound was good, the mind maps were zoomed for clarity and better viewing. Putting on 10 live webinars without any major hitches had been an accomplishment in itself. Actually creating a professional product to sell that is high quality and full of value was another complete project. But, the months of planning, preparation, and skill building allowed me to accomplish it with clarity and focus.
There was the outsourcing that needed to be arranged for graphics and an intro video in less than 4 days. I decided to package the videos into a flip book with all the maps for reference, so had to create and publish that. Then, the creation of a sales page was next with emails to market. To make a long story short…I was up for 2 days straight right before opening up the offer to make sure it launched on my birthday, as promised. And it was an intense couple of days with stories I won’t even go into at this point. Let’s just say I was in a panic trying to reach my web designer within hours of launch…and actually had to delay my first email 3 times. And, no doubt, you’ve either gone through something similar or will sometime in the future.
But, I loved it…call me crazy, but the creative juices were flowing and I’ve got more new ideas to implement than ever. I forgot to eat, my environment was a blur, but my energy was amazing. And now that product is done, people are buying, and I have something in my product tool box that I can use over and over again.
So, I call that an empowering challenge. It got me laser focused, committed to a finish date, through another learning curve, and enhanced my intuition and imagination, while expanding my passion and belief.
